Prison escapee hid in billiard table
by insideprison.com, April, 2006
Inmate Lazaro Bringas Nuñez, a convicted kidnapper and
murderer, escaped from a prison in Ciudad Cuauhtemoc on April
23rd, hiding in a billiard table that was constructed in the prison
workshop. The table was sent out of the prison to be sold privately
in a nearby Mennonite community.
This was the second escape from the prison in Ciudad Cuauhtemoc
in under a year. The first escape was similar, involving one prisoner
who had hid in a wardrobe, also constructed by inmates in the
prison's workshop. The furniture was covered in a sheet of opaque
plastic so that its contents were concealed from prison officials.
The wardrobe was suspiciously purchased by the inmate's lawyer,
Rocio Guadalupe Nevarez Arana, who is currently under investigation,
along with four other inmates and prison guards, as possible escape
accomplices. After Arana discovered what was inside, the inmate,
Enrique Gonzalez Espino, immediately fled and is currently on
the run.
