Nazi Low Riders: Prison Gang Profile

Formed:

In the mid 1970s within the California Youth Authority. After a period of brief dormancy, it was revived in the 1980s, piggybacking on the power of the Aryan Brotherhood, and is now at least 1,000 strong.

Less paramilitary than the Aryan Brotherhood, but more violent, more racist, and more "trouble" for correctional authorities. They are a horizontally-organized gangs with several opposing factions. Despite their racist doctrine, they nevertheless at times include members of Latino or Native American descent.

The word Nazi denotes their racist beliefs, while the term "Lowriders" describes their appearance, low, baggy classic Cali-style pants.
