We call that stop "Graterworld". It's a whole different culture in there. I've been there three times and the smell of Kite, oranges and cleaning supplies has never changed. Makes my stomach knot up just thinking about it. It's WIDE wide open, I've seen hacks buying stuff from inmates' stores. It's not THE toughest spot, but it's absolutely top 5. If you have people in there, all I can say is good luck. Tell 'em to stick to their own, it's one of those joints.

shea wrote on Sunday, November 16, 2014

There is no " Black Out" he gotta set up his phone, put in a visit list etc.. graterford is an intake facility for the eastern region.. It can end up being your home jail too. But you go thru Camp Hill First for classification...

did close to 20 years there: for a crime I did not commit, but it was too late statue of limitation ran out. did not know law myself. but learned a valuable lesson. I pray always for those that are innocent; and there are (many) not most.

Hey I just got out from doing three years here and though I've witnessed violence it is what you make it. It is still group showering and each block holds up too 600 people. I did my time on D block with lifers and those doing big numbers. It's a sad situation in there and despite many preconceived beliefs there are some good men in there. I pray for all those brothers and their families.

How the place living conditions and eMate
Idris wrote on Sunday, February 02, 2014

Living conditions? Well D Block is an older block so it has the older look, there's some mice and a few big ass roaches you see once awhile in the chow hall but for the most part if you got a TV and get a daily routine like programs or weightlifting or trade you can cope better because even though I only did three every once in awhile I used to get those feelings of hopelessness..but with reading and prayer I kept my mind sharp enough to focus on the goal of getting out..they have a new side I was never on so it's probably more up to date but it's like a little city inside of those walls..I know from experience it's possible to survive as long as you refrain from the BS

My sister and I will also be attending the dinner as well. I was told that you can get dressed. of course nothing ridiculous or skin hanging out. Just a nice dress or so. I am going to call today to confirm. Don't be nervous. it's alot of us attending. This is an opportunity for him to feel somewhat normal....Enjoy yourself..:)

Missing HIM

"Hello. After reading some of these stories I can officially say I'm am really scared for my Fiance. I have never known him to be a punk in any way and I have NEVER known him to be attracted to any male in ANY way. With that said, I feel like that makes him even more of a target. I'll explain. He is 6 foot 4, close to 200 lbs, and NOT a punk and NOT a homosexual so it would seem more likely for him to become a potential target of either some type of assault crime or sexual related crime because someone in there might try and be the one to make a name for themselves by breaking in the Diesel ass heterosexual who is BRAND NEW to Graterford.

This worries the hell out of me. It does ease the worry to some degree to know that my man WILL NOT hesitate to catch an additional case protecting himself by all means possible, but still I do worry. He just got there last week from Delaware County Prison (George W. Hill). I haven t heard from him, I don t know how long the intake process takes before I can see him or add money to his books or anything. Will someone out there PLEASE enlighten me? I did receive a box yesterday and inside were his shirt, boots, pants and two Rosaries. I'm guessing they were what he was wearing when he got there.

The judge sentenced him to a 12-24 years, and he's already served 4 months in Delaware County, but how long will he have to be in Graterford before he will be moved to his permanent jail/prison to finish his sentence? If anyone knows ANY of these answers PLEASE email me ASAP. Also if there is anyone who drives there out of Philly (West) please let me know and we can discuss cost etc... Thanks!"

ummmmmm 12-24 YEARS AND YOUR AFRAID FOR HIM? He did something really serious to get that amount of time. Lets hope he learns from this and does not go back. This is a prison, not a camp. Unless he is innocent, I don't feel bad for anyone except the taxpayers. Do you realize how many people in this country have been brutalized or killed by inmates prior to them going there? They send them to the toughest facilities for reason. Its maximum security.
