Disgusted in MN

Faribault is not a good prison. They don't care about trying to rehabilitate anyone, it's all about the money. The just keep packing in more and more inmates so that they can get paid. The grounds aren't very well taken care of. Many facilities plant flowers and make the place look decent, not this place. The exercise equipment is old and in need of repairs, but they don't care. The kitchen is unsanitary. Bags of garbage sitting around collecting flies and other bugs right where fresh food is being prepared. Inmates spit in the food and put god knows what else in it because they don't give a shit. Most are only making 25 cents per hour. Most per

pole deserve to be there, but quite a few don't and no one cares because it's all about the money. Since when is prison big business? I thought they were there to rehabilitate those who broke the law

I meant most people deserve to be there, but quite a few don't . Sorry for the typo. Seriously though, something needs to change in the DOC because they aren't helping anyone become productive members of society. These guys should have programs to help them be able to get jobs on the outside so they don't come back to prison. They got drug treatment and GED classes. Otherwise your screwed!

curious student

"I am a current criminal justice student and am interested in discussing Faribault prison facility. I was a delinquent child and in and out of juvenile facilities. Thankfully I straightened up before 18. Tell me about this facility, what is it like?

Do they have a scared straight program? Why wouldn t they be working in conjunction with local corrections to deter juveniles? Funding or staffing issues? Any security threat groups (gang) issues?

What is the staff like? General atmosphere and attitude from staff and inmates on the facility? Would you recommend this facility to a new graduate as a first place of employment?

Inmates, what in your eyes makes for a good corrections officer and warden? What are actions the staff takes that upsets you or makes you retaliate?"

I did 20 years in mn. facilities. They should cut the money by half, because half the people don.t beelong in there.
