" Prison in California is so easy and safe. I spent eight years inside and never had a problem. Too many liars coming out and exaggerating abuse. You only get fucked with if you look for it. The C/O's never gave me a problem and the other inmates just messed with you if you got involved in their politics or if you are a punk. Everyone in there deserved what they got. We were all in there for a reason. Quit trying to get people that seen too many movies and don't know what really goes on in there feel sorry for your sorry ass. If you did the crime you know the consequences, and they aren't even that bad. Try going to a real prison in another country where they don't feed your ass and the abuse is real. "

" My personal feeling of our Prisons in California, nothing less then modern day torture. Truly never in my life did I care about prison, let alone the prisoners themselves, in my five years of direct study and from what I gathered. Prison is not for the faint at heart, but rather than sugarcoat the ongoing problems they have, prisons have deep long rooted, inconsistent laws within the walls. Point is, nothing less then Modern Day Torture to all who face it, awaiting there serving their sentence. Ending this as hopefully fixable not broken. "

" I just got a call on my cell phone. An officer informed me that my father had died today. I threw down the phone and my husband spoke to the man. He said that my father died of natural causes. I have not spoken to my father in a few years. He was 61 and had a kidney ailment. I love my father. He died the day before my 45th birthday. "

" Good morning america....my first visit in the SHU visit was great. Although when it was time to go I observed the handcuffing of my man, and it felt like a stab in the heart. My heart went out to him. "

" I've been in and out the joint for years. All mostly because of drugs. Doing hard drugs led to me making poor decisions which put me in the worst hell holes in the country. Time is what you make of it. If I can say anything, I will say that it will fuck your whole life up.

Just that one case, that one bad decision can wreck your life. I had great jobs, relationships and it's a stain that never goes away. Filling out that job application and putting a check on the box marked Felony almost makes it impossible for you to be straight and lead a normal life.

In the joint, all you learn about and hear about is how to be a better criminal when you get out, so when you come back you have more stories to tell. If you still got a license, anytime a cop is behind you, you will get pulled over. It's just because your record will come up in their car. It's pain.

The worst part about prison is getting used to it. That's the God's honest truth. You have 3 meals, a gym, and friends that will die for you. On the outside just finding a meal is tough. Then you got to worry about a roof over your head and you can't get a job without a phone and an address, never mind that felony conviction. You can live with people in the "game" but you will just end up in the joint again. It's a messed up cycle.

All I can say is never think about making that wrong choice, it can completely ruin your life as it has mine. "

guess who?

" In 2003 i was arressted at corcoran prison. i had gone to visit the so called love of my life. i was getting processed in when a couple of officers i had never seen before asked if they could speak to me . they took me to the side of the building where the questioning begain. Finally they asked to search me and my car i had nothing to hide so i said go ahead. what had happened is someone was caught taking drugs in the prison (not me ) but my involvement was that i had provided the drugs to that person. they gave me up and so did the recorded phone calls from inmates. they where so called code!

i was put in contact with those people by my ex who had promised that nothing would ever happen to me i had never used or bought drugs before so he instricted me on how to do everything. my point is that i fell for his lies and ended up in prison for 14 months not including what i did in county. worst part was what i made my family go through.

i had a great job nice car never been in trouble. all that ruined it for me. the best part was lesson learned. im married with 2 beautiful kids and a great education. what was meant to break me made me the strong women i am now. as for my ex hes back in prison. that man will never learn hes what you call conditioned. " My uncle is in Ca prison. I forgot which one was it. He got moved a couple of times.

He been in prison over 10 yrs now or more. He had to serve 50 yrs in prison.

Well, I heard two stories. I always heard two stories.

Him & his brother was out in Ca. They was at the bar. He got drunk & I guess he black out. He stoled a car & run over 2 people. One of them died & the other lived. He was a drinker.

Heres the other story. I heard he raped a girl & killed her. He was into little girls but I dont think he would do that.

He started acting up after grandpa died back in 1994. So, He been in prison back in 95 or 96. "

" " I served a 16-month sentence at Chow Chilla Womens facility. The health-care in there is unacceptable! One of my cell mates had to wait almost a year to get the meds she needed for her condition, by then it was too late to cure, and she was told that she would need a hystorectomy. While she waited for that surgery (2 years) she suffered pain and heavy bleeding. She finally received the treatment she needed, but still has problems getting her meds that are needed. There are many experiences I can share with you all, But I really dont want to hog the board!

Thanks for making this site. I take my hat off to all the people who made this site available to us all inside and out! "

pat writes: 4/7/2007 11:50:11 AM

This is an incorrect article! I was a nurse at the prison across the street at VSPW, and they never wait for medical attention that long. Meds come at the most two weeks late! Surgery, they are givin the best doctors and at the states rates(super expensive) "

" I'm sure my huband isnt a D.O. I actually thank God that he is in ad-seg/solitary confinement. It sounds bad. He's on lock down twenty-four seven, probably going insane right now, but at least he's safe from assault, disease, and having to take flight from other inmates or rivals. It's sad; if he didn't have a battery on an inmate in Corcoran, he would be getting out in December. Now he has no "good time" credit and will be gone until November, 2009. "

" My husband recently got put in the hole in California Medical Facility. He's currently in administrative segregation due to his active status and an assault in Corcoran. I dont understand the politics and gang stuff but I do wonder if he is a drop out. I know they have other Northern and Southern Hispanics that are in the general population.

Anyway, it's hard for me amd our 3 children. One is only a month old but won't have contact with daddy for more than a year. It's heartbareaking. I wish i understood what my man was going through there. "

" GREETINGS PEOPLE! I DON'T WANT TO BURST ANYONE'S BUBBLE, BUT, SORRY, I HAVE TO BE TRUE.

AFTER 1985, CHARIE MANSON HAS BEEN IN THE (P.H.U.) PROTECTIVE HOUSING UNIT. THAT'S WHERE SIRHAN SIRHAN SITS, SO NO ONE WILL WHACK HIM, OR THOSE TYPES. THEY NEED TO BE "PROTECTED" BY THE ( C.O.'S ). ONLY RAPERS;CHILD MOLESTERS, RATS, ETC, ARE PLACED THERE. I'M SURE YOU GUYS GET THE HINT, OF COURSE FOR THEIR PROTECTION BY THE "SOLID" ONES OR THOSE THAT WANT TO BE KNOWN AS THE ONE WHO DID SO&SO.

I MYSELF DID 12 YEARS IN THE (S.H.U.) FOR BEING TOLD ON. I'LL LEAVE IT AT THAT. WHAT ABOUT THE BUBBLE? "CHARIE" HAS NOT AND WILL NEVER HAVE A "CELLIE." I GUESS YOUR UNCLE WAS TRYING TO MAKE HIMSELF LOOK "BAD?" GREAT STORY FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW BETTER . WITH RESPECTS... "

" My father has been in and out of prison over the last 55 years. He has his original number which starts with a B. Right now he has been in for 26 years. He left us his two kids without a father for most of our lives. All of you men and women out there that are in and out of prison have to realize that you are hurting your children. "

bogus SOUTH BAY L.A.

" This last case I got cracked on started out with 11 years plus 25 to life. They had me dead bang on a 459 PC, GTA. To tell you the truth, I figured this might be a wrap for me. I went down on my knees every night asking for one more shot at life. I knew I was wasting my time, though, since it looked pretty bad for me. I pretty much hit rock-bottom in life. I told the man upstairs that if I somehow got that "L" off me, I'd hang up my bad habits for ever.

I somehow beat a third strike. They came at me with 7yrs at 85 percent to serve. So I hopped on that sentence quick. After some 64 months later I tasted freedom. I stayed true to my word. I stopped everything that kept me in and out of jails, and I gave them back this last "K" number. "

" I am married to a man doing a lot of time (in the double digits) in California and it hurts like hell. I really want to have a baby and we can't have conjugal visits so I decided to talk to his counsellor and see if we can collect some sperm from him. I don't know but is this possible? Nevertheless I am going to do all I can to get it. I don't know a good lawyer so I guess I have to figure this out on my own. "

" LittleBro: unfortunately sex offenders aren't looked kindly upon. Actually they are probably one of the most hated in the prison system. They will do risk assessment and because of the obvious threat on his life they will stick him in protective custody or a special wing/range. He is still vulnerable but not as much as if he was in the general population. That's his reality.

I feel for ya bro I really do. My older brother was in and out of jail for various things.. no sex offences.. but my brother-in-law was charged with beating his wife and kids. Not the same but still hated on for sure..

The best advice I can give you is to pray and do the best you can.. I know its lame dude but that's the ticket. Everything else is just a bandaid. Let the chips fall where they may and try and make peace with it. "

I LOVE MIGUEL!

" MY COUSIN WAS LOCKED UP 2 1/2 YRS. HE WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME. HE WOULD WRITE TO ME EVERY WEEKEND, SEND ME HOLIDAY CARDS, B-DAY CARDS, HAND-MADE. I LOVED THAT FOOL TO DEATH. THEN ONE WEEKEND HE DIDNT WRITE TO ME. LATER FOUND OUT HE WAS RAPED BY 15 DIFFERENT GUYS AND WAS LATER MURDERED. HE'S IN MY HEART EVERYDAY. I JUST HATE RAPERS. NOW ALL I WANT IS TO TELL PEOPLE TO NOT GO TO JAIL, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DONT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. "

" I WAS LOCKED UP FOR THREE YEARS IN A FEDERAL PRISON UP IN TEXAS FOR TRANSPORTING. I GOT THE HINT, BUT THE EASY MONEY IS NOT ALL GOOD. MIGHT BE FOR AS LONG AS YOU STAY REAL LOW, BUT AIN'T WORTH IT. PRISON IS NOT A FREAKING JOKE. DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY OF THEM DONT GET THE HINT. "

" I've been out of prison for 10 years. I am a heroin addict. I lived the revolving door from 18 to 30. I have 5 boys. I went to a residential treatment facility for one year to deal with my addiction. I remained clean for 6 years, but long story short, I've got one foot in the door of CDC. I have problems with one of my boys, as well. It hurts me. I just want to communicate and that doesn't happen. Check it out your mom loves you and means well and I promise you when she goes one day you will regret not spending time with her. Do your best to enjoy your time and as much as you can. My dad a heroin addict died at 46. I hardly saw him and it is a big void in my life. "

" My mother has done time in almost all the california prisons, off and on for about 40 years. I am now 34 yrs old and barely know my mother. She is a heroin addict and a petty thief. I spent many years angry at her, pissed that she could leave me to foster care when i was a baby. Then I was given to my father who sexually abused me for most of my childhood, with many years of anger. She came to live with me about 9 years ago and we fought like crazy. I told her that I needed a mom 20 years ago, not when I am an adult. It was crazy, she tried telling me how to raise my daughter, and i was not having it.

Then she was locked up again for 8 years. She will be getting out again in 2008. I have not written to her recently because I am angry once again. I did not put her there. I tried to help her the last time she was out, but the drugs and stupid behaviors won't change. I really hope she can come out and do the right thing. Is there anyone out there who has successfully not returned back to prison? What helped you? "

" I was married to a guy for 3 yrs that was in & out of prison for 15 yrs.He led me to believe that it was never his fault & came up with some good stories to convince me it wasn't. He was a good talker & I fell for his lies. I am an intelligent women, however I fell for a con man. My life w/ him consisted of chokings, slappings, thrown to the ground by my hair, rammed into the wall by his chest, spat on,many affairs, including w/his own family members.

He said he wasn't a women beater cause he didn't punch me with a close fist. These people justify their behavior alway's. I finally had to sell my home & move out of state to get away from this savage, but I'm gratefull to still be alive. My message to you women out there is ,the reason these men are locked up is because they are dangerous. Most of them are good looking, charming & convince you that you are the only person they have ever & will ever love. They are bullshitters & it's all self serving for them. I used to be the biggest bleeding heart, but no more. I now give my love & time to my grand children & animals in need. "

" My name is Robert. I was raped in Corcoran 3A yard. i was a first termer and i was 19 years old in 1993 and i was a closet bisexual, but i did not want the other guys to know for obvious reasons as i am hispanic and a wanna be a tough guy. But it was rumored that i was in the gay unit of the Los Angeles County jail, so i was asked about it and of course denied it even though it was true.

So anyways, i was in the shower when a big black guy came in after me and was smiling at me, which made me nervous but i smiled back and i noticed he had a hard on so i looked at him and smiled i couldnt resist but he got behind me and put a chock hold on me and started to choke me unconcious & said he would kill me if i made a noise & resisted so i did not resist and let him penetrate my rear. It hurt a lot but was not impossible since i was not a virgin so i let him sodomize me. My only thought was hoping no one would see us.

Also i must admit i loved it and wanted him to take me & finish punking me but i did not want anyone to know what was happening to me, least of all to know i was enjoying being raped by this huge black stud.

But it was over, no one knew, after that he made me meet him somewhere at a certain time every so often so i could either satisfy my new black daddy orally or give him my boy pussy, as he liked to put it. But i felt i was his whether i wanted to or not because he said he would tell my hispanic homeboys if i refused to be his bitch. So i went along and was his sex slave anytime he wanted it. It was an experience for me and i was so nervous i would be found out. "
