Lopez is an easy unit. I did about 8 months there in 06 to 07. There are a few state jailers there who are not trying for parole and they will rumble a little (no chance of not making parole they have to do all their time). Usually the state jail guys and the TDC guys are kept separate. In the TDC system once you move out of Garza East or West (transfer units for those of us who were south bound) you hit the little units like Lopez before going on to a real farm.
My guess is 75% of the men at Lopez make parole from the unit and never reach one of the big work farms. So odds are most men are going to keep to themselves and avoid something that will delay parole. That makes for an easy time if you are smart.
