Is it true that sexual offenders are at risk for being abused by inmates and guards? What is a self contained housing unit? Is it a cell or what?

my husband was there and from what he told me they did a clean sweep of those officers .... your fiance should be fine .... its not that bad of a place ... the best thing to do is keep ya head up because with out your support he will fall .... they cant do it on their own ... thats why even tho me and my husband are going through our issues i would never leave him feeling abandoned in there ... it is what you make of it and thats comin from someone who has been locked up?

"I spent 3 years as an inmate at Calhoun C. I., and like any prison a handfull of the Corrections Officers are hard asses. However it was my experience that many of them were just doing their jobs and for the most part were as decent as a person could be while still maintaining authority over the inmates.

I never personally witnessed any abuse on inmates by the C.O s. As far as rape and sexual abuse these things do happen in prison. But these low life predators prey on the young, small and weak inmates in the population. I was aware of only one instance where an inmate was being threatened with sexual abuse and the would-be abuser was removed from the population immediately and put into solitary confinement. It is a relatively safe prison from my experience, as I only witnessed maybe 3 fights in the three years I was there.

The food is not really that bad considering, but you do not get a lot of it and you are usually starving before you make it to breakfast the next morning. However they do have an inmate canteen that provides inmates who have money on their books with a chance to eat better. The canteen can provide them with snacks between meals along with some of the comforts taken for granted by people on the outside, for example, cold cans of Coca Cola and hot sandwiches, as well as candy bars, potato chips and ramen noodle soup. Having money on the books really makes life easier when you re doing time, no matter where it s at. Whatever money you could spare I am sure your Fiance would surely appreciate it, if you could put it on his inmate account.

I would not worry too much, as prisons go Calhoun C.I. is not the hell-hole everyone keeps saying it is, but it is prison nonetheless and there really is not anything pleasant about prison."
