her best friend

Cautia Spencer wad my first boyfriend! Her father molested and abused her. She had one month until release, when she supposedly killed herself. It's all bullshit and I would love to know who these guards were at the time of her demise.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of her.

ex inmate

There are only cells on Lowell's Annex or if you are sent to lock at the Women's Reception Center otherwise inmates are housed in an open dorm/ barracks type setting (with 60-80 women in a dorm)- definite over crowding and no a/c except in 2 dorms on the Main Compound U & V making summers unbearable- as if prison isn't unbearable enough. Most dorms on the main should be condemned ASAP- mold is prevalent throughout and the prison staff could care less whether an inmate has respiratory issues or NOT/ faulty plumbing and lack of chemicals to clean make the place unsanitary. If one complains they are told "if you don't like it... don't come back" or "you shouldn't have come here!" - as if we had a choice!?

Conditions are often compared to as being in a concentration camp or a prison in a 3rd world country- HORRIFIC!

What hurt me the most was MALE officers calling us out of our names we were often referred to as "whores" , "bitches" and crack heads- if they had said "ladies, line up for chow etc" it would have went a long way and caused a lot less conflict & turmoil within the dorm!

As I was saying ...going down the hill of the main. I wasmiling happy. I had God. Peace I found after my 11

years. An officer called out my name and cursed saying why are u so damn happy and u r in prison ???? I said No... when I was free I was in prison. Now that I'm in prison I'm FINALLY SET FREE. I then said he should try it some te and find God.

When I got sent to Lowell C.I my world fell apart. I did 4 years and now im fighting to stay on the right path. Its hard as people see you as an ex-con and not the real person.

I pray for the ladies still there and that I never go back.

Amanda cline

I did three yrs at lowell and no one will ever understand unless they have been there. Its Like a culture shock I don't.think I would ever be able to except that as my future. The women in there are unbealivable. They actually look up to the lifers . That place will change.u if u are not.careful. Most women pray on other women for survial. Will tell you any thing for a behind coffee and cream and equal. The ones with money think there all that and try to find.weaker ones to push around and control..
