I really hope this is a way to change the situation, but I guess it rubs off on the guards being inside the environment and like a mistreated dog they start rebeling, growling back.. and as any bully does, take it out on the least deserving. I am completely shocked, saddenened, and now is the time while the federal heat is on and investigating this, make it known, write your story, print it out and send it to every official, and govenor, attorney general in the states. Then, send it out to parents and let them know they are the same as Trayvon Marten, and the latest in Missuri no matter what or who the color of a person either the inmate or guard, this is abuse and you need to keep the story going on. Contact 60 minutes, or write to Oprah.. you never know go to there websites Dr Phil, Jerry Springer anyone ask what you can do.

NICOLE PERSAUD

THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. MEDICAL STAFF IN LOWELL IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE CARELESS KILLING PEOPLE LEFT AND RIGHT JUST TO SAVE MONEY! THESE ARE PEOPLES LIVES WHO ARENT SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON YET THEY ARE SENT HOME TO THEIR FAMILIES IN CASKETS. SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2014 OVER 5 PEOPLE HAVE DIED DUE TO LACK OF MEDICAL TREATMENT ALL "TOO LATE" AT THE ARRIVAL AT HOSPITALS. MEDICAL ALWAYS FEELS LIKE THE INMATE IS LYING BEFORE PROPER CARE IS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION JUST TO SAVE MONEY! THIS IS CRAZY AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE! PEOPLE CLOSE TO BEING RELEASE ARE BEING BEATEN TO DEATH AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. I AM AN EX INMATE AT LOWELL AND I HAVE STORIES TO TELL! YOU CAN EMAIL ME AT NICOLE14ENVY@GMAIL.COM

Michelle Tierney, 48, died Thursday after she was transported from the Lowell Correctional Institution to Ocala Regional Medical Center the day before, her family told the Herald.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed Saturday that it is investigating Tierney’s death, as it is Ellington’s. Tierney’s family, as well as sources at the prison, said that Tierney had been seriously ill for some time, and that doctors at the hospital told her family that at the time she arrived at the hospital her feet were blue, she was in septic shock, she had a fever and was suffering from pneumonia.

She died early Thursday morning. After serving 14 years, Tierney had been scheduled to go home around the start of the new year.

Deb

I was at Lowell doing only 5 months out of a 12 month sentence.I was released this year I saw things there that is a shame to go on in a prison for women. THE relationship with officers & inmates getting special attention. The Food is not even slop. The inmates are treating bad. Why do they have to go in & smash there canteen, break there bowls & cups. take away family pics that is a treasure to them. not to mention taking stamps and evenlopes to where they can't write home. The story goes on and on. Much less for the officers to get a pleasure out of allowing inmates to sneak off in the closest together or even put on a show from the top bunk for the whole dorm to see the sexual acts go on. LORD HAVE MERCIE ON ALL.

there IS SO MUCH I COULD SAY BUT WHAT GOOD WOULD IT DO...

Keep Talking about what goes on there. Eventually, it will be heard by someone in the media. Sooner or later, the truth will come out.

confused

My sister in law just passed at lowell and I need of the inmates her screaming for her life. They have yet to say an cause and have left the family torn and confused. It was said that it was something to do with the correctional officers by the immediate family, however no information has been released yet.

I just received a letter from my Best Friend who wrote to tell me that my friend "Tan" just died the day before. The letter is dated for 10/01/2014. The letter goes on to tell me about how she was placed in PC (protective custody) because she wrote some kind of statement and the policy requires her to be placed in PC. The fact that she died there, made me very suspicious, so I was doing so online research about Lowell CI inmate deaths and stumbled upon this. Could this be the same inmate? I had to pleasure of knowing Tan through our unfortunate un-justice system. I love Tan and she has a "golden" smile and will make you laugh when you really want to cry. The unfortunate unofficial cause of death is probably a brutal beating to death by CO or inmate, depending on what her statement was about that she allegedly wrote.

This is same person as Sad and Confused... I just looked her up on the FL DOC website and it's true. They have her released as "Deceased" on 10/01/2014... and my heart and prayers go out to her family and kids. Latanda will be a soul and spirit missed dearly

I am a reporter from Miami Herald who has been uncovering suspicious inmate deaths across Florida. If the family member who wrote this could call me I would appreciate it. Julie Brown, Miami Herald Investigative Reporter, cell 954-649-0088

I just read about Latanda, and am so upset and shocked that these types of conditions exist. Sgt. Q, who the union is stating was on vacation at the time, was threatening her. I pray to God he Doesn't get away with this. Patrick Quercioli is his name.

This prison is sicking I only did 2 and a half years there. I have seen officers beat youth offenders and set up inmates. I saw was officer and inmate relationships. And saw same officer mace two inmates, because they spoke to a white shirt about what was going on. One time we were locked down three days for food poisoning. The medical service is the worst. I watched them turn my bunkie who was very sick away over and over. She had Cancer of the tounge. I watched her deteriorate over a few months she lost 30 lbs. Then they sent her to lock when she refused to leave medical. Where she ended up dying. Her name was Sherri Lemcool. The way they spoke and treat inmates is sicking. People make mistakes. We are humans and should be treated as such. To all the families that think they give us everything we need that is a lie. We got one roll of T.P. a week as well as one bar of soap that looks like one of the little hotel soaps. At one point they were even breaking that in half and giving us half a bar of soap. Then we got one bag of pads a month. Which if you have a 7 day heavy flow that bag isn't enough. This is a horrible prison, and something needs to be done about the horrible treatment.
Micco-Vickers wrote on Tuesday, October 21, 2014

I used to eat "special diets" with Sherri every day, it was fucking terrible the way they treated her.. she was malnourished because they refused to give her any type of proper nourishment, medical refused to give her protein shakes or vitamins.. they violated her civil rights by not allowing her to practice her religious beliefs.. I wish there was something I could do to give her the justice she deserves... I'm going to look into filling a lawsuit against Lowell, not only on her behalf but also mine.. I was a pregnant inmate and 3 days after giving birth I experienced a bladder prolapse which they didn't treat, and I had to have emergency surgery 2 days after my release ( 3 weeks after the prolapse happened )
