Domestic violence takes huge toll on workers and their employers

In her late 40s, Melissa Lee returned to North Charleston to care for her dying mother. That's when she met Jerry Robinson. Most workplace assaults involve guns in parking lots Johnny Lee, founder of Peace at Work, tracked 754 cases of domestic violence assaults nationally from 1984 to March 2014 and found: Guns were used in most cases - 391 of the incidents. In nearly 600 cases, a perpetrator assaulted only his or her intimate partner at the scene. Parking lots were the most common places for assaults. Most assailants had prior criminal records. 225 assailants committed or attempted suicide after the assault; 194 fled the scene. She never imagined he had a 30-year criminal record of domestic violence. They married a few months later. Any bliss quickly descended into harsh verbal insults and physical beatings.
