CAGE Questionnaire - Alcohol
The following is the CAGE questionnaire for Alcohol use/abuse. The CAGE Questionnaire for Alcohol Abuse is a useful screening tool for both alcoholism and substance abuse among adults. The CAGE questionnaire has been found to be both valid and reliable for clinical use, and has a high positive predictive power (between 50 and 82%). It is short, consists of only 4 questions, and takes under 2 minutes to complete. The CAGE has become popular in clinical settings because it is easy and quick to administer. The test has a cutoff score of 2 or more, indicating a positive test result for alcohol abuse. The latters CAGE form an acronym for the 4 items measured (Cutting-down; Annoyed by others; Guilt; and Eye-Opener).
