Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale

The Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale measures symptoms of depression in adults (18 years of age and older) using the diagnostic elements of the DSM-IV definition of major depressive disorder. It has been validated for use across both young and old populations, however, for older subjects, the completion rate of the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) is lower than that of the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), so for older subjects, the GDS may be preferred. The SDS consists of 20 items. Rate each item as it applies to you at the present time. Lower scores indicate less depression.
