" Going to Attica to visit my husband is an experience all in its own. Attica, let's just say has its own rules they live by. The experience you encounter from a to z is tremendous. You have to be strong, hold your head high and keep to yourself. If they can break you as a visitor they will. You are harassed from the get-go and if you're lucky you can go in unnoticed, which I shoot for every time. I just want to see my husband, not go through a war zone to get to him. These officers need to lighten up and realize if they go out drinking tonight and kill someone they can be in green tomorrow. They are not invincible nor are they above anyone else. They are as human as us and our family whom they are to watch over and not hurt. "

" Hi. I haven't been there yet to visit my friend. I would rather wait outisde the gates for him when he is being released one day. In america, the Government and judges will rather spend their money 48.000 dollars a year on keeping people locked up than having a healthcare system for all. I just don't understand.

My opinion is, if an Correctional officer does not like his job he should find another. Taking his own irritation and negativity out on prisoners is just not okay. A person like that do not leave good vibes for inmates to feel inspired by. Another thing is, an inmate has the right to call anyone long as they have money on their inmate account. But it doesn't work like that. My friend has been denied to call me abroad because his family reside in the US and that is enough the Counselor thinks. I have seen the note he send my friend. So I called Correctional association in New York. He has the right to call me. Should anyone else have the same problem with officers. Contact even the Governor if its needed. Even an inmate has his rights.

Have a great day "

" My uncle is in prison, for a change he shouldn't be: he was convicted of rape, which it for sure wasn't! He was staying in Fishkill, but had to attend a court date on the 5th of November in a town near Attica prison. So they brought him to Attica prison on Monday and then postponed his court date for a few more weeks.

My story starts with the horrible way my uncle was treated when he first got to the prison. He was beaten down by the correctional officers and kicked and beaten by their clubs. Don't you think it's a little messed up that the CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS are doing this? Yes, he is in for a horrible charge but I know that he didn't do what the 13 year old says he did. Funny how she has now accused 3 different men of it. What a coincidence right? But any ways. My uncle is SCARRRRRRED for his life. He's been threatened by not only the inmates but the officers many times including ones who say they will stab him to death and not once, but repeatedly.

UGH I am just so shaken up about all of this. He doesn't deserve one bit of it. He is a great father to his 3 beautiful kids and has one still on the way. He has always been the greatest uncle any niece or nephew would want. "

waiting in pain

" I'm still waiting for my husband to come home. My last entry was 5/14/09. It's gotten to the point where I just don't go anymore. It's too much time and money. I'm tired and I don't want to go through all those procedures.

I just can't imagine what my man goes through day after day in there or rather I don't want to imagine. I decided not to do time with him anymore. Don't get me wrong I love him with all my heart but he has shelter, a bed to sleep in and three square meals a day and me well there's no one to take care of me if I don't pay my rent I won't have shelter, when I'm hungry there's no one to feed me. I've been holding him down since I met him seven years ago and well he has thirteen more months to do and he's gonna have to do those months all by himself.

I decided to go see him again around Christmas and New Year holidays. Last time I saw him and decided not to return was in August. I feel bad most times because of this decision but I'm sticking to it.

I can not be scrambling for money to get me to my next pay check because I spent the money going to Attica then leaving him money and then on the visit spending money to take pictures and getting food in the vending machines. He's my heart but I have to be able to take care of myself too. "

Waiting in pain

" My husband to be has been in Attica and has served 2 years and 6 months there. Hopefully he'll be home this summer, if not he'll be home in July of 2011. I see him once a month. I catch the bus in Manhattan and arrive around 6 or 7AM in the morning then have to wait until about 8:30AM when they allow the buses to enter and leave the visitors to sign up. Then have to wait for your number to be called. I get in a van which takes me to another entrance where I give in the slip I've filled and show I.D. Then I fill out an envelope where I leave him fifty dollars then take a seat to wait and be called again where I then have to walk through the metal detector after taking off my watch, belt and shoes and then get stamped on my right hand. I then have to walk to another building where I give in my slip and I'm told which table to sit and then I wait till my boo gets there and this is every month. I spend so many hours just to get there and then more hours just to see him that after two to three hours I'm so tired sometimes I can't even keep my eyes open. I don't sleep on the bus going because I can't. Just knowing I'm going to see him I can't sleep. I love him so much it hurts when your soulmate isn't with you. So much anticipation when I go to visit him and then its over and I have to wait another month. "
